Statement Regarding Sexual Harassment and Violence Against Women

In light of the events of the last week, we are heartbroken. With our position as an event in the student community, we feel like we need to say something.

We as a committee are aware of the disgraceful levels of harassment and violence against women at concerts and festivals. It is estimated that 250,000 women are assaulted at festivals in the UK each year. This has to change.

As a music festival, we thought we would reiterate and make our stance clear.

Any harassment or violence against women will not be tolerated. Any reports of it at ValeFest and associated events will result in a ban for life and, with the victim’s support, you will be reported to the police.

ValeFest should be a safe place, where you can celebrate the end of the university year with your friends. We will do everything in our power to ensure this.

We also want to know how we can make you feel safer at our events. If you have any suggestions in how we can do this, please let us know here ( We will then use these ideas to make ValeFest the safest place we possibly can.

This has to end. For women everywhere, for Sarah, enough is enough.

If you’re a student and wish to be involved in organising ValeFest, drop us a message on our social media, we would love to have you involved!
