With guidance from Birmingham Guild of Students, University of Birmingham and the UK Government, it is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ValeFest 2020 will have to be cancelled this year.

Although we very much hope that the situation in the UK will have settled down by June, we can not guarantee this, and the safety of our attendees is something that remains the utmost importance to us.

This is not a decision that the ValeFest 2020 committee has made lightly, especially on the 16th anniversary of the festival. For the last six months, the committee has worked tirelessly to bring you the biggest and best ValeFest yet, and we have no doubt that you would have had a ball. The work from this year’s committee will not go unnoticed and we promise that next year’s event will be even bigger and better to celebrate what would have been.

As Europe’s largest student-run charity festival, ValeFest 2020 was supporting two great causes, RSVP West Midlands and Just Like Us. Unfortunately, it is now impossible for us to raise the funds we had hoped to raise for these two charities, but we would like to point out that this is not the end! We will be thinking about alternative arrangements to support our charities, and we will get back to you on our social media channels with any decisions that are made.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your continued support, and we promise we will be back to party with you in June 2021. Stay safe everyone.

With love, The ValeFest Committee x
